The governor has also offered tax cuts for renters or homeowners who pay for gas in excess of an amount that is higher than the federal minimum. Governor Andrew Cuomo has even proposed cutting the gas tax by 50 percent when the average price of unleaded fuel hits $4.51 a gallon in the summer. Some politicians in New York state have also backed suspending the state gas tax of 33.3 cents per gallon.

Although the federal government isn’t looking to roll out any kind of stimulus plan however, state legislators and the President Biden have offered a range of suggestions to assist consumers. These proposals include a three month gasoline tax break. But as of late June, nothing concrete is being examined by Congress. It will be some time before gas rebates start with every state. Although the President has been able to propose the national gas tax holiday however, he’s yet to find any legislation that could fund the holiday.
