Certain states, such as New York, are considering cutting the gas taxes completely or offering a small refund. Governor Andrew Cuomo has also suggested taxes for renters as well as homeowners who pay gas taxes at or above those at the national minimum. While the federal government isn’t seeking to create any sort of stimulus package state legislators and President Biden has proposed a variety of solutions that will help consumers. They include a 3-month period of a gas tax vacation. But as of late June there is nothing concrete being looked at by Congress. It will be some time before gas rebates begin to be offered to every state. Although the President has been able to propose the idea of a national holiday for gas taxes however, he hasn’t found the right legislation to support the holiday.
