The federal government has not passed the Gas Rebate Act for 2022 yet, but it is considering such the idea and some cities and states have made laws for it. Some politicians in New York state have also backed suspending the state gas tax of 33.3 cents per gallon.

While the federal government isn’t trying to put together any type of stimulus plan, state lawmakers and President Biden have proposed various proposals to assist consumers. These proposals include a three month relaxation of the tax on gas. But , as of June 30 it is unclear what is being discussed by Congress. It could be a while before gas rebates start rolling out across every state. While President Trump has suggested that a national tax holiday on gas and has not yet found an appropriate legislation to pay for it.

Whatever the political stance of the concept gas rebate cards are one of many instruments to help Americans get through the cost of gasoline. But they’ve also faced some resistance. Just two months ago House Democratic counsel disapproved of the idea, saying that it would increase inflation, was expensive, and wasn’t targeted well enough. Earlier, the top White House aides raised concerns concerning the rebate cards because of the lack of microchips.
