The federal government should consider this program as an effective method to fight the current high prices of gas and other products.
Certain states have tried to lower their gas taxes and are also considering credits to the citizens of their states. Certain states, such as New York, are considering abstaining from the gas tax altogether or offering a tiny rebate. The governor has also suggested tax reductions to renters and homeowners who pay gas taxes at or above their federally minimum. Governor Andrew Cuomo has even proposed cutting the gas tax by half once the average price of unleaded fuel hits $4.51 per gallon during the summer. Certain politicians in New York state have also support the idea of suspending state gas tax of 33.3 cents per gallon.
These aren’t available in all states
While the federal government isn’t endeavoring to introduce any kind of stimulus package however, state legislators and the President Biden has proposed a variety of solutions for consumers. These proposals include a three month relaxation of the tax on gas. As of late June, nothing concrete is being thought of by Congress. It will take a few months before gas rebates begin for all states. While the President has proposed the idea of a national holiday for gas taxes but he is unable to find any viable legislation to fund the holiday.

A few months ago, House Democratic counsel rejected the idea, saying that it could trigger inflation, cost too much, and wasn’t well-targeted enough.
