Governor Bloomberg has also proposed tax reductions to renters and homeowners who pay gas prices in excess of those at the national minimum. He even proposed reducing the gas tax by half when the price for fuel without leaded hits $4.51 a gallon in the summer. Some political leaders in New York state have also suggested suspending the state’s gas tax, which is 33.3 cents per gallon.

Although the federal government has not trying to put together any type of stimulus package State lawmakers and President Biden have proposed various proposals to aid consumers. These proposals include a three-month time-frame for the holiday of gas taxes. But as of late June the proposal is not being taken into consideration by Congress. It will be some time before gas rebates start to be offered in every state. While President Obama has offered an annual gas tax holiday across the country however, he’s yet to find any legal way to fund it.

No matter the politics behind the concept the gas rebate cards are one of the many tools to assist Americans to manage the cost of fuel. However, they’ve met with some resistance. Just two months ago House Democratic counsel panned the scheme, stating that it would drive inflation, was too costly, and was not targeted enough.
