The federal government needs to think about this scheme for a practical way to fight the current high costs of fuel and other commodities.
Certain states have attempted to reduce their gas prices as well as are considering discounts to its residents. Some states, like New York, are considering abstaining from the gas tax altogether or offering a small rebate. Governor Andrew Cuomo has also suggested tax relief for renters and homeowners who are paying gas taxes at or above that of the minimum federal rate. While President Trump has suggested an all-national gas tax holiday but has not come across any legislation that could fund it.
